What is diabetes?
If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, it means that your blood glucose (blood sugar) is too high.

What are some common symptoms of diabetes?
People with unmanaged diabetes may experience a variety of symptoms including, but not limited to, frequent urination, excessive thirst, fatigue, unexplained fluctuations in weight, irritability, frequent and recurring infections, slow healing cuts and bruises, blurred vision.

Why is it important to manage the disease?
Unfortunately, diabetes can put you at higher risk for some serious health ailments. By taking care of your health (eating right, maintaining a healthy weight, exercising and managing your blood glucose level), you have a better chance of preventing or delaying the onset of some serious complications, including heart disease, stroke, eye problems, nerve damage, kidney problems, gum disease and more.

What is pre-diabetes?
Pre-diabetes is a condition where blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be called diabetes. Lifestyle changes (diet & exercise) may help prevent or delay the onset of diabetes in individuals with pre-diabetes.
